Are you interested in taking a role in supporting our school and students? We are looking to fill four Parent Association (PA) Executive Board Directors roles and one 6th grade School Leadership Team role. Elections for PA Director roles are next Wed. 11/16 at the 6:30 PA meeting. If you want to join the PA executive committee, or are a 6th grade parent who would like to join the SLT, please email info@newvoicesbrooklyn.com. Role descriptions:
- Four Director Roles: Each director to take the lead in vital work, from fundraising to grant writing, from communications to event planning. The minimum commitment of a director is to participate in the Executive Board’s decision making – much of which happens over email or text – and to attend 1 monthly zoom meeting of the executive board, in addition to the monthly general PA meeting.
- One 6th Grade School Leadership Team (SLT) Role: The School Leadership Team (SLT) needs a 6th grade parent member. The SLT is a group of people who develop educational policies for their school. Looking for arts, STEM, humanities and other more events for your student? Want to get to know NYC high schools by attending performances? The New Voices PA just launched an events board (https://padlet.com/merylblockweissman/zwzhm5kd7vd4459p)for publicizing events outside of NV that might be of interest to our community. Please share arts, STEM, academic and other enriching events that will be of interest to our New Voices student community by emailing ideas to director1@newvoicesbrooklyn.com

Annual Holiday Fundraiser starting 11/7! For the next two weeks, students will help raise funds for New Voices by participating in a sale of wrapping paper, sweet treats, and other holiday-themed goods. A kickoff assembly for students was held on Monday and details were sent to home with your student. Fundraisers like this help the New Voices PA pay for materials for all our majors, academic teachers’ classroom needs, school wide activities and more.
Last, but not least, please join the Wednesday November 16th PA meeting at 6:30 to hear from/ask questions of Principal Giordano and learn about opportunities to be involved in supporting your New Voices community! Zoom link and materials will be sent next week.
